Christmas Mason Jar Lid Wreath with Free Printables14. November 2019
What do you do with all of your used canning lids? If you’re like me, perhaps you save a few of them. If you’re really really like me, you save ALL of them every time you pop one off a jar. Sure, you can’t CAN with them again, but you can still use them to store jars in the fridge or for crafting. So here’s a great decor idea for all of you crafty canners out there! Decorate your stash of used lids to make this festive Christmas mason jar lid wreath.
To make this Christmas wreath:
1. Print our FREE PRINTABLE LABELS out onto adhesive label paper. Use Avery Template 22817 OR print onto full sheet label paper and use a 2” hole punch to cut out circles.
2. Adhere decorative labels to canning lids. In our example, we used 8 green labels and 8 red labels. You can use more lids to make a larger wreath.
3. Arrange green canning lids for the wreath base. To maintain a circular wreath shape, evenly space the green lids around a dinner plate, leaving space between each lid.
4.Place a red lid between and on top of each green lid. Apply craft or hot glue to the back of each red lid where it will overlap the green lids below it. Allow glue to dry.
5. Loop a ribbon or bow through the top of the wreath to hang. OR add heavy duty magnets to the backside to hang onto a metal door or refrigerator. For extra festive sparkle, apply glitter glue around the lids. Ooooh-la-la!
Bonus Holiday Idea:
For a smaller craft idea, make hanging tree ornaments. Apply printable labels onto lids, then insert into canning rings. String a bow through the lid and use as an ornament. See our past tutorial for additional printable mason jar lid ornaments. We also have a Scented Mason Jar Ring Christmas Ornament tutorial that’s great for kids.
